Lynne, your words reached the depths of my heart, particularly your realization that "people inhabited my definition of home. Tethered by love, by choice, by shared values and common histories." Thank you for this treasure.

This is such a warm and lovely story. I had a similar "dropping off" experience with my daughter, driving with her from Oklahoma across several states to complete an internship in Salt Lake City after college. Two full days in the car with all her "essentials," and two full days to get her set up in her apartment. It was a bittersweet time. Thanks for sharing your story.

What a beautiful essay! My husband and I have been fortunate enough to have vacationed on Oahu a few times and it is so beautiful it can't be captured in words. All mothers raise their young to leave the nest sooner or later, but we always hope they will forever think of it as home.

Gorgeous. So much to resonate with a mama of a high school senior.💜

He’s eight and this is still breaking my heart. I love so much to see you encouraging her to spread her wings, while your own heart is being crushed by her leaving. Sending hugs.
