Writing Our Eras
A workshop for midlife women who are writers, nonwriters, Swifties, and non-Swifties
Good morning!
I'm beyond thrilled to tell you about our latest workshop, Writing Our Eras. It's a four-week writing experience starting Wednesday, April 24th.
First, let's just get this out of the way. If somebody had told me a year ago that I'd be this excited to lead a workshop for midlife women like us inspired by Taylor Swift's lyrics, I would not have believed them. To say the least.
But since then I've discovered — okay, along with millions and millions of others — the wisdom, fearlessness, and literary magic of her writing. You don't have to be a "Swiftie," I promise you, to connect with her lyrics about childhood, betrayal, loss, relationships, power, and hard-earned lessons.
In many ways, this writing group will be very similar to others we've run in the past: prompts, discussion, Zoom meetings, writing feedback, a close-knit community of supportive midlife women. Only this time we'll be using the words of Taylor Swift as a basis for our prompts.
No prior knowledge of anything related to Taylor Swift is required. You're not signing up for a month of making friendship bracelets or stalking Swift's Instagram account. (But if you want to do this and talk about it, I'm sure you'll find many others in the group to connect with, especially with the release of her new album on Friday!)
Paid subscribers to Midstory Magazine get 22% off. (Okay, yes, the 22 is a Swift song reference.) See below for more details.
Have any questions? Reply to this post in the comments or over DM. Let us know if financial circumstances prevent you from enrolling in the workshop, and we’ll work something out.
Hope to see you on Wednesday!
