Hello, Midstory Writers! We are preparing for a September workshop called Writing Divorce, and are seeking input from female midlife writers who have experienced, or are currently going through, divorce. We are asking divorced writers to share their experiences with a brief survey.
Divorce can be an isolating time, and women frequently feel silenced. We are sometimes unable to fully communicate our thoughts and feelings to our former partners, children, friends and family members, and even our larger communities. Sharing our experiences openly and honestly often comes at a cost: legal fallout, harm to our children, and tension with friends and family.
And the suppression of our voices can result in fallout for us as well—emotionally and creatively.
We want to give women an opportunity to give voice to their divorce story by candidly sharing as much as you feel comfortable in our Writing Divorce survey; your insights, wisdom, and stories will help guide the discussion and writing prompts for our fall workshop.
And we would love to have you join us for the workshop as well! This four-week workshop begins September 3rd, and includes:
3 lessons and prompts each week
weekly (optional) Zoom meetings
A private, safe community forum
Feedback on your writing
Support and connection with other midlife women
You can learn more about the workshop and enroll here; space is limited to keep the group intimate, so sign up in advance.
We are thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting a FOURTH session of our workshop, WRITING OUR ERAS, a three-week prompt-based group for writers of all backgrounds and levels, Swifties and non-Swifties, starting Monday, August 12th. These groups have truly been one of the most amazing experiences of connection and growth we’ve had in a decade of leading writing groups.
Hi. I write about divorce and all that is involved in the build up to it and the aftermath. How it’s affected my life and how I’ve come through it.
Hi, is it exclusively divorce? I’m a widow of almost 4 years and while not the same, I’m sure there are some similar themes. If not, I understand.
