We are looking for original personal essays by midlife women to publish in Midstory Magazine for our fall submissions period, until December 1st.
To learn more about what we are looking for, to find out more information about payment and length, and to submit your writing, click HERE.
Until Election Day, in addition to our regular posts about women’s experiences at this stage of life, we would also like to publish personal essays about what the 2024 election means to you, as a midlife woman.
What is the story behind your vote that only you — as a midlife woman with your particular life experiences and perspective — can tell?
During this campaign season, we are flooded with information: polling data, interviews with voters, videos and memes in our feeds, campaign rallies, debates…
What we want to publish are the ordinary and extraordinary stories from women behind our votes, the numbers, the data.
What is at stake for you?
What is your unique perspective?
How is your vote shaped by your life experiences?
Is there something specific to include in a submission entry to indicate it is about the election, or just submit as usual? I have a piece I will be submitting later today ❤️🩹
This is a story that I wrote and performed in a Story Slam in 2016. My feelings are the same...but MORE ramped up. It's time for a WOMAN to be president. Maybe it's time for a woman to lead us? Men haven't done a great job of it for the most part. It's absolutely beyond belief that we are here at this point in time and have never had a woman at the helm. AND this year, it's more than just that. We have to keep the maniac out of the White House. It's beyond me that anyone would want him back again. I don't understand what 50% of this country sees in him and how they can be so blind to the fact that he doesn't care one whit about any of them...he only cares about their votes. AAARRGGGHHHH. Oops. Here's the video.
